You have probably already wasted money on various sprays from Amazon only to discover they do not work. You are not alone in this.</div><div><br></div><div>It can be expensive if you do not carry out adequate research and use the correct bed bug pest control company or like mentioned, have wasted money on products purchased online, which most do and understandably so</div><div><br></div><div>Bed bugs can cause sleep deprivation and worry as well as stress which could lead to illness. Dealing with the issue quickly is the best way and with the support of a good pest control company you will find relief in knowing you are on the path to being free of bed bugs.</div><div><br></div><div>The best piece of advice I can give to you is to seek out the advice and help from a professional bed bug pest control company who are experienced in dealing with bed bugs daily and have been operating a long time.</div><div><br></div><div>Do this straight away and find an experienced pest controller like myself in London and the home counties or if you are from elsewhere do your research and find someone with good reviews and don't be afraid to email with all your questions. A good pest controller will be happy to answer all questions and be understanding too.</div><div><br></div><div>Self help DIY bed bug treatments rarely work and often make the infestation of bed bugs worse which then means they can be more difficult to eradicate as they have more than likely been spread further than the initial room that the infestation started out in. </div><div><br></div><div>Seek advice and help from those that understand bedbugs so that the issue can quickly be controlled and done so safely which is vital. You should always receive a written report stating what has been done in your home, what has been applied.</div><div><br></div><div>Id also say that being honest with the pest controller is vital. Many times we arrive at a property being told the bed bugs have only been there two or three weeks for it then to be clear that they have been there six months is very common or things moved from an infested room when we ask they are not to be. </div><div><br></div><div>We are working with you to eradicate them so as many details as you can provide about how long they have been there and where the problem started will only help the bed bug control process. </div><div><br></div><div>Some more tips if you have bed bugs in your home.</div><div><br></div><div>Do's</div><div>Wash all the bedding and curtains in the room that has bed bugs. Bedbugs in curtains is common.</div><div>Wash all clothing. Particularly if stored in bed draws and units beside the bed.</div><div>Inspect all items under the bed. These are high risk for bed bug activity. Bedbugs love boxes and folds to get into.</div><div>Use air tight vacuum bags to store items in long-term.</div><div>Look for eggs. 1 mm in size, White. On bed frame, walls, curtains. Often spread far.</div><div>Do not's </div><div>Spread items from the infested bedroom to other rooms. This spreads eggs and bugs.</div><div>Throw beds or furniture out without wrapping up or disposing of correctly.</div><div>Take bedding from infested bed and leave on the floor elsewhere. Always bag items ups first.</div><div>If you have an infestation of bed bugs then depending on how bad the infestation is it may require more than one visit to fully remove the bedbugs from the home. This again is why we say contact a professional pest control company straight away as in the long run this is going to be your best chance of getting the problem resolved smoothly and quickly.</div><div><br></div><div>If you have lived with bed bugs in your home for a year then a bed bug technician cannot always come in to your property and remove a high level infestation within one visit it may require several depending on how bad the infestation is but this should all be explained to you first.</div><div><br></div><div></div><div><br></div><div></div><div><br></div><div>If you have bed bugs then we can help eradicate them from your property. This latest post is just to show some pictures of bed bugs and bed bug eggs. Bed bug eggs are often missed to the untrained eye but they are the first thing I look for when carrying out a bed bug inspection in a property.<div><br /></div><div>They are 1mm in size and an adult bed bug can lay over 300 eggs in the right conditions and they spread them in all manner of places too such as bed frame, curtains, furniture to name a few.<br />

There are many more pictures of bed bugs and videos of them on our FB page - <a href="https://en-gb.facebook.com/epbcontrol/" target="_blank">EPB Control </a><br />

Here is a video I did a few months ago of bed bugs on the underside of an electric reclining chair. The poor ladies legs were badly bitten but because of poor circulation in her legs and health she wasn't aware of how bad the bed bug infestation was.</div>

The above bed bugs video you can see hundreds of bed bugs and eggs on the end of the wooden slats that run the width of a bed under the mattress. This is a common area to find bed bugs. Lift your mattress and look around the black clips on the end of the wooden slats for signs of excrement, which is black. This is a common location to find bed bugs</div>

<div>
<span style="color: #20124d; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #20124d; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Welcome to Bed Bugs London advice blog and this post about understanding what bed bugs look like.</span><br />
<span style="color: #20124d; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #20124d; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Often people ask us, "can you see bedbugs?" "Are bedbugs to small to see?" "Why can't I find the bedbugs in my bed?"</span><br />
<span style="color: #20124d; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #20124d; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Bed bugs are masters at hiding themselves away and also getting into places that people do not realise they can get into, like screw holes.</span><br />
<span style="color: #20124d; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #20124d; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Bedbugs will mostly be found in cracks, crevices and folds. Between wood joins. Skirting boards. The top of curtains and any place they can squeeze themselves into so they are not exposed and out in the open.</span><br />
<span style="color: #20124d; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="color: #20124d; font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">Here are some pictures of some bed bugs and some bed bug eggs. As you can see adult bed bugs are fairly large. They are also very quick at moving over a surface.</span></div>

Welcome to Bed Bugs London and some information on our London bed bug treatments . Our London bed bug pest control services are available to homes and businesses. Find more information on our bed bug services here at <a href="http://www.essexpestcontrolandbirdcontrol.co.uk " target="_blank">EPB Pest Control</a> </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The cost for a bed bug inspection of your home or hotel this year will remain at the same low rate its been for the last 4 years previously. If you then do require a bed bug treatment in London for your home or your hotel then you will only be charged for the bed bugs treatment and not the inspection itself. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The first thing to try and do if you have just noticed bed bug bites or blood spots is seek help, which as you are here you are doing. I am available via email or phone if you wish to book for me to attend your property.</div><div><br /></div><div>Leaving it longer will only give bed bugs time to reproduce and the infestation in your property to get worse and spread around your home with bed bug eggs then being an issue and this means the potential for more visits being required as well as the risk of your spreading the bedbugs to friends and family </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Some cases of a bed bug infestation can just be one bed bug, some can be multiple, some are dozens and hundreds of eggs. Any bed bug issue dealt with quickly will always go smoothly. When there are hundreds of eggs present and spread all over different areas this is when a bed bugs treatment can get tricky and also why preparing for a bed bug treatment the correct way is vital.<br />
You do not want to be moving items all over a house that have bed bug eggs on them as this can make the infestation worse and spread it from room to room.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You can read in depth other posts on <a href="http://bed-bugs-london.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/room-preparation.html" target="_blank">Room Preparation</a> on here and I give advice before any bed bugs treatment are completed. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The bed bug treatment itself will consist of treatment of the beds, floors, cracks and crevices and furniture along with sofas. Treatments vary on the time they take depending on how many rooms to treat and how much furniture and so on but from our point of view it takes us as long as it takes us, there is no rushing to get to the next job!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We at EPB Pest Control East London only use insecticide treatments at the moment as it is an effective and affordable method and if carried out by a knowledgeable bed bug technician its as good as any other type of treatment for a lot less of the cost. All of our treatments are guaranteed also. </div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
We are available seven days a week so can find a suitable time to carry out a treatment for you.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
No one can be in or go back into the treated area for 4 hours after treatment. Something to bear in mind when arranging treatment times as there will also be some cleaning to do after treatment, of all which will be explained and written on your report after the bed bugs treatment is completed.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I hope this information helps.</div>

<span style="color: #20124d;">Bed Bug Treatment Preparation</span> </h2>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This information on bedbugs and Bed Bug Treatment Preparation, is to assist in preparing your room for a bed bug treatment of which we are about to carry out in your home. Following this guidance and the other post, room preparation will ensure that your property is prepared well for the coming bed bug treatment. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It is vital that the rooms are prepared to the best of your ability for the bed bugs treatment being carried out. If there are certain things you cannot do then that is fine but as much as possible that can be done will ensure a successful bed bug treatment in your home. Anything you need to know further just contact me.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;">Firstly, hoover all floors in the room around all sides of the beds too. Empty hoover after use in an outside bin.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;">Bedside units should be emptied, these will need to be treated. Any items inside should be checked as bedbugs are often found inside the draws.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;">All of the bedding must be removed from the bed and this will either need to go straight into the washing machine on 60c or a bag tied up waiting to be washed as soon as possible. NOTE: Do not carry bedding around the house. Put it in a bag first in case any bed bugs fall from it in other areas</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;">Empty the chest of draws and wardrobes in the bed bug infected room. These will be treated too. Clothing to be bagged up. If signs of bed bugs in the furniture then all clothing will need to be washed. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple;">Secondly, no pets to be in the rooms to be treated please.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple;">Unplug and switch off sockets to things like phone chargers, extension leads.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple;">No personal items to be left laying about, laptops, games and phones please.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: purple;"><br /></span></div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This bed bug treatment preparation is a guide. There is also another post called room preparation on this blog that you will find useful with further detailed information on preparing for a bedbugs treatment<br />
<br />
You have to consider things such as not moving infested items around your property. Not leaving bedding from the bedroom with bed bugs just sitting on the floor as if it has a bed bug on it the whole treatment could be a waste of time.<br />
<br />
Anything that cannot be washed like clothing can should be placed into an empty bath or in the sun on the lawn and shaken off or wiped down and inspected.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If there is more information you require that is not listed here on the bed bug treatment preparation guide try the <a href="http://bed-bugs-london.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/room-preparation.html" target="_blank">Room Preparation</a> post or <a href="mailto:darren@epbcontrol.co.uk" target="_blank">contact me by phone or email and i will assist further </a></div>

Eradicating Bed Bugs</h2>
<div>
Welcome to the Bed Bugs London blog and eradicating bed bugs. Eradicating bedbugs from the home is no easy task but lets explore it further.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A female bed bug can lay upto 300 eggs in the right conditions. 300 eggs. Small, about 1mm in size and white. Now imagine those spread out across a wall or up a curtain or even in cracks and crevices. Bedbugs are survivors. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
To eradicate bed bugs takes knowledge, experience and patience. Bed bug control London like other major cities is a daily occurrence. Probably one of the most requested London pest control treatments. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HghnDwsCgfA/UO6olso-M6I/AAAAAAAACfA/t6kcLEIK43AhPKFX5qcuj5iQKwO4m3jhwCKgB/s1600/Bedbug.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="Eradicating bed bugs from your home" border="0" height="167" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HghnDwsCgfA/UO6olso-M6I/AAAAAAAACfA/t6kcLEIK43AhPKFX5qcuj5iQKwO4m3jhwCKgB/s200/Bedbug.jpg" title="" width="200" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you have had bedbugs for a long period of time you are likely to have a bad infestation. This is going to require several visits and a lot of preparation. Like most things in life, you will get what you pay for. Please bare this in mind when booking a treatment. If I had a pound for every treatment I do that I am told they have already paid someone to do it and they still have bedbugs id not be writing this blog but sitting by a pool somewhere. If the price sounds to good to be true, it usually is. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Eradicating bed bugs is going to require treatment of not only the beds but areas around the beds. Bedbugs will climb curtains, get in personal items under or close to the bed, will get inside furniture, down the side or carpets, the back of picture frames, I could go on. This is why many d.i.y methods fail. Simply putting a bed bug smoke treatment in the middle of the room and walking out is only going to spread the bed bugs away from the room and make the infestation worse.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Another post on the Bed Bugs London blog, <a href="http://bed-bugs-london.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/room-preparation.html" target="_blank">Room Preparation</a> will assist you and together with some good advice if the room is prepared in the right way that is a good start. Be under no illusions, the preparation can be tough, especially if you have a family with children and have a families worth of stuff to move and wash. Do it right first time however and only have to do it once.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
At <a href="http://www.essexpestcontrolandbirdcontrol.co.uk/" target="_blank">EPB Pest Control</a> we carry out several treatments a week and eradicating bed bugs is something we do well. If you would like further information on eradicating bed bugs from us then get in touch.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you are attempting to do it yourself. Think twice and consider the money you will spend on products only to probably have to employ someone after anyway. Eradicating bed bugs is best left to the professionals. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Thanks, </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
Welcome to the home of Bed Bugs London and more information on the cost of bed bug control treatments in London.<br />
<br />
The cost of bed bug treatments UK will vary due to number of factors that should be considered.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here at <span style="color: red;">EPB</span> <span style="color: blue;">Control</span> we try to always provide affordable bed bug treatments in London and the home counties. Having bedbugs is a stressful situation and we do all we can to help by keeping the price as competitive as possible.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The level of the bed bug infestation in your home will also dictate things such as the number of visits required, how big the property is, how many rooms and beds there are to treat and how far the bed bugs have spread around the property. If d.i.y bed bug treatments have been attempted this can really spread the bugs far around the home.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Some of the worst cases of bed bugs in London we have seen have been because people have tried d.i.y methods such as bed bug bombs (which we always advise against) or sprays bought on line which have only agitated the bed bugs and driven them away from the original area of infestation into other parts of the house. These methods just make infestations worse which can in turn lead to more visits being required.<br />
<br />
Looking for the best bed bug pest control companies in London you will also find a lot of misleading information. Companies claiming only bed bug heat treatments work or bed bug companies in London saying they do heat and spray when in fact they only steam and spray. You have to do your research as there is a difference. We offer treatment via insecticide spray which is very effective if done correctly and we also offer a steam machine option. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The cost of a bed bug inspection in London by ourselves is £60. If you then proceed with a bed bug treatment then you only pay for the cost of the bed bug treatment, not the inspection.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Depending on the number of bedrooms to treat and beds and how bad the infestation is will impact the cost. Our prices are given honestly, not stated ultra low to attract calls and then disclose lots of hidden extras. The cost of bed bug treatments UK provided by<span style="color: red;"> EPB</span> <span style="color: blue;">Control</span> will be fixed and most importantly the bed bug treatment will be guaranteed. There will not be extra costs for extra visits if they are needed. We charge for multiple visits, not single visits. You get a better rate this way than someone just charging you per visit and perhaps having to do many visits</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<span style="color: #cc0000;">Bed Bugs</span></h2>
<div>
Having bed bugs in your home is just about as stressful as things can get for a person. Lack of sleep, being bitten. Searching for them and not finding the bed bugs can drive you mad. If you have children the stress is likely to be much worse. Worrying about people visiting your home and noticing them or spreading them to friends and family is a big concern for people that have bedbugs in their home. Its a bad time. The only thing you will be focused on is getting rid of the bedbugs and that's where we come in.</div>
<div>
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div>
Bed bugs stay as close to their food source as possible, as that is your blood, you will find 99% of bed bugs around the bed or sofas, anywhere you spend a prolonged period of time. </div>

<li>Beds, bed frame, items under or inside the bed, on the headboard front and back they shall be.</li>
<li>Sofas, in the folds of the fabric, around the legs of the sofa, in the seat zip line, in the base.</li>
<li>Bedside unit, in the joins of the wood, around the legs, on the rear, in the draws.</li>
<li>Ceilings above beds, where wall and ceiling join, top of curtains that overhang the bed.</li>
</ul>
<div>
These are a few of the most likely places you will find bedbugs in the rooms of your home</div>
</div>
<div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5l4S5hGyNg8/VqczkNhup3I/AAAAAAAACjs/S7ulviYlp-k/s1600/10325557_715683271807510_7900915160788389412_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="Bed bugs and bed bug eggs on bed" border="0" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5l4S5hGyNg8/VqczkNhup3I/AAAAAAAACjs/S7ulviYlp-k/s320/10325557_715683271807510_7900915160788389412_n.jpg" title="" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
Bed bugs can lay alot of eggs in the right conditions. Bed bugs eggs are 1 mm in size and white. To the untrained eye they can be impossible to see. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Evidence of bed bugs activity can also be identified by the presence of excrement which is black and will increase in amount as you find the nest. You will also see it spread out as single dots along any route they take, i.e, across a wall, to get to you to feed in the night.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Bed Bugs</h3>
<div>
Treatments for bed bugs are best left to professional pest control companies and bed bug extermination companies. In our experience, when a d.i.y bed bug treatment has been attempted it only makes the infestation worse, spreads the bedbugs to other parts of the home and makes the treatment needed to eradicate them a little harder.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Part of an effective bed bug treatment is the correct <a href="http://bed-bugs-london.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/room-preparation.html" target="_blank">room preparation for bed bug treatments</a> and ensuring that any advice given by the pest control company has been followed. If a property has been prepared for a bed bug treatment correctly it increases the chances of success first time. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Washing of bedding, curtains and clothing.</li>
<li>Ensure furniture is empty for treatment, draws on beds, bedside units.</li>
<li>No personal items on the floor.</li>
<li>Floors are clean and tidy.</li>
</ul>

<span style="color: #660000;">Bed Bug Bites</span></h2>
<div>
<span style="color: #660000;">Welcome to Bed Bugs London and this post, Bed Bug Bites which is composed to help assist people in understanding bed bugs and bed bug bites. </span><br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #660000;">Often when people suffer from bites they are not sure what they are being bitten by and search Google for pictures and advice on bed bug bites.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #660000;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #660000;">Not everyone that is bitten by a bed bug will have a reaction. Some others will have a very bad reaction to bed bug bites.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #660000;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #660000;">As bed bugs are nocturnal creatures they are feeding when you are asleep. Made aware of your presence by body odours and carbon dioxide that we as humans exhale. Bed bugs then emerge to feed. Typically a bed bug will feed for between 5 to 6 minutes and then return to their nesting areas.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #660000;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #660000;">In the morning you awake either aware of the bed bug bites or unaware. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #660000;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #660000;">Bed bugs do not transmit disease themselves but there is a risk of infection from scratching the bed bug bites which itch,</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xpNxjUytS8M/VZLG4FymFoI/AAAAAAAACew/6qr__a9Inak/s1600/10409098_835753216467181_6848861544353922849_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed Bug Bites" border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xpNxjUytS8M/VZLG4FymFoI/AAAAAAAACew/6qr__a9Inak/s320/10409098_835753216467181_6848861544353922849_n.jpg" title="Bed bugs can lay up to 300 eggs" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #660000;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #660000;">Bites can appear as spots, usually in a track or triangle shape. A reaction can sometimes take up to 15 hours to appear and this can sometimes be cause of confusion as to the cause as people would expect to wake up and be aware of the bites immediately and it can also make a GP's task of identifying the bites more difficult.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #660000;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #660000;">I have seen extreme reactions to bed bug bites too, like large rashes, inflammation and discomfort. People react differently to bed bug bites.</span></div>
<div>

Bed Bug Treatments in 2015</h2>
<div>
So, Bed bug treatments in 2015, the latest post on the Bed Bugs London blog.</div>
<div>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ngUCihI40hs/VPcqUnOPJRI/AAAAAAAACPo/F8gcmn9ua5g/s1600/10325557_715683271807510_7900915160788389412_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img alt="Bed Bugs London - Eggs" border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ngUCihI40hs/VPcqUnOPJRI/AAAAAAAACPo/F8gcmn9ua5g/s1600/10325557_715683271807510_7900915160788389412_n.jpg" height="240" title="Underside of a sofa" width="320" /></a></td></tr>

</div>
<div>
What does this year have in store for me? I have started to see a little increase in calls already for bed bug treatments in 2015 and if last year is anything to go by it will a busy year and probably worse than 2014, as that was of 2013.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As the holiday season gets closer people are planning their holidays, family and friends are making arrangements to travel and visit each other and so bed bugs will once again start their never ending journey around the world!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So if you are one of those people planning a trip somewhere or even having people visit yourself then try to make sure you know the signs of bed bugs so to prevent picking them up. You can find good posts on the signs of bed bugs if your scroll through the blog, what to look for and what not. Also little tips like when you first enter your hotel, turn the heat up full. Bed bugs hate heat, if they are there and you leave the heat up for a while they will crawl.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Remember bed bugs can hold onto pretty much anything, take care with where you put your cases and personal items and check them before leaving, You can see from the picture above how small the eggs are so be thorough,</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I should imagine most people reading this Bed Bugs London blog will be in contact with me for advice at some point or perhaps one of my bed bug treatments in 2015 if you are already here. I say to you, do not panic. In all my years of carrying out bed bug control in London I can tell you things are rarely as bad as they seem. Unless you have already tried various d.i.y bed bug treatments such as smoke you buy online, in which case you have probably already made the infestation worse by spreading it and making things that little more challenging for myself!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you are reading this blog for the first time I will be posting more as the year goes by and I feel there are things that are important for people to know, like changes to how I like people to prepare their rooms for bed bug treatments, or some useful pictures or advice. </div>

<div>
Do not take old items home that you find outside someones house, usually that is a sign of bedbugs.</div>

<span style="color: #6aa84f;">Bed Bug Spray Treatment</span></h2>
<div>
Welcome to Bed Bugs London, an informative blog aimed at providing useful information on bed bugs, bed bug treatments in London and room preparation among other things.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This post, Bed Bug Spray Treatment is an insight into having bed bug control in your home by method of a spray treatment.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Done correctly a bed bug spray treatment can be the most effective method of bed bug control in London. There are alternative treatments, such as a bed bug heat treatment that is more common in America but this is more difficult in the UK due to how properties are set out as opposed to in America where properties tend to me more stand alone homes. There is also cost, the cost of a heat treatment is very expensive for a true heat treatment not a steam treatment that is often miss sold by some companies to those that do not know better.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
An effective bed bug spray treatment will include treatment of beds, mattresses, furniture such as bedside units, wardrobes and the such like as well as sofas and floors and so on. With this method a good bed bug technician will request that all furniture be empty so that draws can be removed and sprayed as well as beds lifted and wardrobes pulled out and treated.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Efz7D8_Pw60/VDP4S90hIcI/AAAAAAAACOM/pbeK0eNPj3c/s1600/10325557_715683271807510_7900915160788389412_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed bug spray Treatment of furniture" border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Efz7D8_Pw60/VDP4S90hIcI/AAAAAAAACOM/pbeK0eNPj3c/s1600/10325557_715683271807510_7900915160788389412_n.jpg" title="Bed bugs and bed bug eggs" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
Do not confuse a bed bug spray treatment with bed bug spray you may buy from the internet. I never advise d.i.y bed bug treatments as they can actually make a bed bug infestation worse and plus the insecticide you are purchasing would be different from what a professional bed bug technician would use. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
After you have had a bed bug spray treatment there will be a period of time when you cannot re enter the treated rooms, typically for between 3-6 hours and then you will be advised of what cleaning is required.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Bed bugs can infest every area of a property, curtains, sofas, cracks and crevices, furniture, clothing, the back of pictures on a wall or books and personal items. The most important thing is to spend time preparing your property correctly. </div><div><br /></div><div>Our bed bug control London services are all guaranteed so should you require discreet bed bug control services in London you have peace of mind of total bed bug extermination.</div>
<div>

Simply do as much as you can and leave the rest to me. Do not stress, I can work around most things and have done hundreds and hundreds of bed bug treatments over the last 23 years.</div><div><br></div><div>If you are about to have a bed bug treatment carried out, then this post, Room Preparation is a guidance for you but if you feel it does not all apply to you then do what you feel is right for your property. We can work around most things like I say. The most important area of the room is around the bed. </div><div><br></div><div>The correct room preparation for a bed bug treatment is key to a successful treatment. If you cannot however do any of this and need assistance then contact me and we will try and help out anyway I can. </div><div><br></div><div>If for some reason there are certain parts you cannot do then do not worry, it can be worked around or contact me if you have any concerns or require further advice and I will assist further.</div><div><br></div><div>1. Room Preparation is Beds:</div><div><br></div><div>If your bed has draws in the base, please ensure these are empty. Anything within those draws is highly likely to have bed bugs on it or possibly even bed bug eggs so be very careful. If you have any items of material in them, then wash it all at 60c or bag them and then wash it when you can. Either way, the draws must be empty for the treatment but do not just place items in another room. Bag, check, wash.</div><div>Bedding must be removed, again, bagged to be washed or straight in the washing machine at 60c</div><div>Leave the bed and mattress in place, I will move as I need to, you do not need to lift them for me.</div><div>Also, if you curtains overhang your bed they are likely to have bed bugs in them, at the gathering at the top. These need removing and washing too. Be careful, there may be eggs on them so in a bag before they leave the bedroom or these could fall of as they are carried.</div><div><br></div><div>2. Room Preparation is Furniture:</div><div><br></div><div>Please have all furniture in the rooms empty. I like to treat all wardrobes, chest of draws, bedside tables. Leave no stone unturned as bed bugs can easily infest furniture. If you do not feel you need to empty your furniture that is your decision but at least the bedside units should be empty.</div><div>Clothing, bagged and to be washed at 60c or the highest heat and dried without ruining it (if bed bugs are found in that furniture) Bagged clothing can stay in the room, I can work around the bags. </div><div>If you have books in bedside tables we will speak about these, bed bugs love books, DVD cases and things of that sort that they can squeeze into. </div><div>Furniture should be moved away from the wall six inches. If this is an issue for you speak to me, it wont be a problem I can do it.</div><div></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>3. Room Preparation is Floors:</div><div><br></div><div>Please hoover the floor of the room and ensure that it is free of personal items. Empty Hoover after used in infested room.</div><div><br></div><div>4. Room Preparation is Toys/Teddies:</div><div><br></div><div>Any toys and teddies or kids items cannot be in the vicinity of any bed bug control treatment or insecticide that is to be used. They must be bagged up. Do not move items from the infested room to other rooms without thorough inspection first. </div><div>5. Room Preparation is Electrics</div><div><br></div><div>Ensure all plug sockets are switched off and all small electrical items are removed, laptops, games. NOTE - Tvs and dvd, pc's, console players can stay in the room on top of their units, just cover them over. </div><div><br></div><div>6. Room Preparation is Pets:</div><div><br></div><div>No pets can be in the treated areas. Dogs and cats, aquatic species must all be removed.</div><div><br></div><div>Before your bed bug treatment is carried out you will be informed of what is to be done but this rough guide will help you prepare the rooms. You will be informed of what cleaning is required at the time of the initial contact and at the time of the treatment. </div><div><br></div><div>For more information contact me directly or if you would like to know more about our bed bug control in London why not take a read through some of the other posts of visit our website. </div><div><br></div><div>Regards</div><div><br></div><div>Darren</div><div>Bed Bug Control London</div><div>Darren@epbcontrol.co.uk</div><div>07940592497</div><div><br></div><div>www.epbcontrol.co.uk</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

Bed bug infestations often feel worse than they are and can cause stress and anxiety. We see all levels of bed bug infestations and if you act as soon as you notice signs of bed bugs then it can be prevented from becoming a heavy infestation by allowing them time in your home to breed. I would also advise against trying d.i.y treatments such a bed bug bombs or aerosols as these can actually make the issue worse.</div>

<h2>
<span style="color: #073763;">Frequently Asked Questions</span></h2>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Welcome to the latest post from EPB Pest Control - Bed Bugs London. This post, frequently asked questions, may answer some of the questions you have about bed bugs or help you understand bed bugs and treatments better.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As I have said in many previous posts understanding bed bugs and knowledge of bed bugs will not only assist in the control of them but help you to ensure you know the signs to limit the risk of future bed bug infestations in your home.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FH3vVdwOH-c/U5cZRmI-ysI/AAAAAAAACI4/C3BqM9pygHk/s1600/bed+bug+and+eggs.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Frequently asked questions, bed bugs London." border="0" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FH3vVdwOH-c/U5cZRmI-ysI/AAAAAAAACI4/C3BqM9pygHk/s1600/bed+bug+and+eggs.jpg" title="Bed bugs and their eggs!" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A female bed bug can lay up to 300 eggs in her life time in the right conditions.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Small, 1 mm, white and sticky, bed bug eggs can be difficult to spot to the untrained eye and can be one of the difficulties in eradicating bed bugs from your home due to the places these eggs can be laid and how far they will spread them.<br />
<br />
Also people moving items from the bedroom that have eggs on them spreads the problem to other parts of the house which doesn't become apparent until they hatch and this should be avoided.<br />
<br />
Never move items from under the bed to another room. These items are high risk to contain bed bug eggs so this is a big no and if they are being removed to be discarded should be bagged up first.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Some more frequently asked questions:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<ul>
<li><b>Can you see bed bugs</b>? Yes, in fact an adult bed bug is similar in size to an apple pip and easily seen.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><b>Will steam kill bed bugs</b>? Yes it will, but you would need to treat many items accurately to ensure all bugs are eliminated and steam can pose its own challenges and risks. </li>
</ul>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>Do bed bugs fly</b>? No bedbugs do not fly.</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>Do bed bugs transmit any disease</b>? No, but you could get an infection from scratching bedbug bites and breaking the skin as they do itch so apply cream.</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>Do bed bugs only live on the bed</b>? No definitely not. Bed bugs can be found anywhere you spend a prolonged period of time, bed bugs, sofas, chairs. They can also be found down the side of carpets close to the bed, top of curtains, book shelves, rear of pictures, inside furniture, on items under the bed, tops of walls, rear of bedroom doors, in books and cases, boxes. Basically, anywhere in the room they could be found.</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>How long can bed bugs survive without feeding</b>? Tricky one, and best answered up to a year. Bed bugs are cold blooded and in cooler conditions their metabolism will slow down enabling them to live longer. In room temperature, 3-5 months would be more realistic. </li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>Do bed bugs prefer dirty houses</b>? No. This is a myth. People say it wont happen to me my house is clean. Bed bugs can be found in the cleanest homes or hotels, hostels. A bed bug does not care about the condition of a property.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><b>Do bed bugs like heat</b>? No they dislike heat. Bed bugs do not even like the heat of our bodies, only sticking around long enough for their feed then moving away once it gets to hot. This is why bedbugs bite in different places and you see tracks. Heat is also a good but expensive method of bed bug control and removal. Its a more common bed bug treatment in the U.S.A</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><b>How are bed bugs spread</b>? Bed bugs are spread on items such as clothing, bags and luggage if you have stayed somewhere that has bed bugs or by someone visiting you that has bed bugs. Also, bed bug infested furniture being brought into a property, beds, sofas, pictures. Holiday and travelling. I have seen cases of people taking items home they found on the street and then becoming infested with bed bugs and even people buying items from internet auction sites that were infested therefore becoming infested themselves.</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>How much are bed bug treatments</b>? That will depend on the <a href="http://www.essexpestcontrolandbirdcontrol.co.uk/bed-bug-control" target="_blank">bed bug company</a> you use, the amount of bedrooms to be treated, the type of treatment among other things. Every company has it's own pricing and way it carries out bed bug control treatments. </li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>How do you prepare for a bed bug treatment</b>? Again, a good bed bug control company will take you through preparation requirements in advance, but here is some information from myself on this subject - <a href="http://www.bed-bugs-london.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/pre-treatment-advice.html" target="_blank">How to prepare for a bed bug treatment</a>. </li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><b>Do I need to stay out of the house during the treatment</b>? Depending on what treatment is done, what that companies procedure is, then possibly yes, you would not be able to re enter treated areas for between 3 - 6 hours at the advice of the pest control or bed bug control company. You will also be instructed on cleaning and what to do/not to do.</li>
</ul>

<span style="color: #4c1130;">Dealing With Bed Bugs</span></h2>
<div>
In this post on Bed Bugs London, we will talk about Dealing With Bed Bugs. I hope to get some feedback in the form of comments from people that have suffered with bed bugs in the UK or throughout the world. Having bed bugs in not a reflection on you or your home, they infest any type of property. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Id like to hear about how you felt at finding you had bed bugs, at getting the information you needed, did you find it easy finding bed bug control in London, perhaps at experiences you had dealing with bed bug companies or from having a bed bug treatment or even some comments from other bed bug professionals giving advice to people who may be dealing with bed bugs. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Having bed bugs can be extremely stressful for people. I have seen just how bad it can affect people. Much of this stems from the lack of public knowledge of bed bugs and peoples perceptions towards them. It can make people feel dirty, unhygienic or that it is a reflection on their home. None of those are the case.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
There is also the lack of sleep, the worry and anxiety and also potentially trying to find the money to pay for bed bug treatments or even trying to find a company you feel are going to provide you with the service you need. Added to all that the stress of preparation, dealing with items that may be infested with bed bugs and it can quickly push people to the point when dealing with bed bugs feels like the worst situation they have ever experienced.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GDaMoqQ56PA/U38VVTzCC0I/AAAAAAAACGA/evl_EvxkO_Q/s1600/20130227_121914.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="Dealing with bed bugs in your home." border="0" height="150" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GDaMoqQ56PA/U38VVTzCC0I/AAAAAAAACGA/evl_EvxkO_Q/s1600/20130227_121914.jpg" title="How can something so small cause so many problems?" width="200" /></a></div>
<div>
What I really want to see is people given advice to others. Any tips that you can share with someone who is dealing with bed bugs, something you wish someone had told you, something maybe not to do, such as trying d.i.y treatments with fogging and aerosols? As I mentioned earlier the lack of public knowledge is a main factor in why bed bugs thrive, so, comment and share with others anything you think is worth knowing. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Dealing with bed bugs need not be as stressful as you may think. With the right advice, the right <a href="http://www.essexpestcontrolandbirdcontrol.co.uk/bed-bug-control" target="_blank">bed bug treatment</a> and the correct preparation of the infested areas then your home can soon be bed bug free again. The main thing I would advise is to do lots of research before you hire a company for bed bug removal, ask questions of them so you fully understand the process and the costs.<br />
<br />
I have been providing bed bug control in London for many many years and over this time and having various discussions with clients the one thing that always struck me and is what people do not know about bed bugs. I have had people tell me they thought they were invisible, they fly, that they are due to cats and have also been told by people that once you have them you need to move house! Thankfully none of that is true but only goes to show the lack of knowledge about bed bugs and bed bug control.<br />
<br />
Lets have your comments. Have you had bed bugs? How long until you were free of them? What advice can you give to others dealing with bed bugs?<br />
<br />
If you have any bed bug pictures you can email them to me if you likes, maybe bed bug bites of bed bugs on walls or beds, always interesting to see different levels of infestations. </div>

Here you will see a fully fed group of bed bugs. This is divan bed. Where the two parts meet in the middle. The black dots you can see are bed bug excrement. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HtvuecrlORM/U3Jdx3-nGmI/AAAAAAAACDo/eB4XUJBecmM/s1600/581978_578669755508863_1418679644_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed Bugs Pictures UK Of Adult Bed Bugs" border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HtvuecrlORM/U3Jdx3-nGmI/AAAAAAAACDo/eB4XUJBecmM/s1600/581978_578669755508863_1418679644_n.jpg" height="240" title="Adult Bed Bugs On The Mattress" width="320" /></a></div>
Again in this picture you can clearly see the adult bed bugs around the corner of the mattress and excrement. On a mattress you are likely to find bed bugs around and under the lip of either side, under the buttons on the flat side I have also found them, particularly if no bed sheet is used and also under the handle and label areas on the mattress. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3_Ae93u2OFk/U3JeCL8L8cI/AAAAAAAACEY/qx6sqwJCeVY/s1600/Bed+bugs+behind+wall+paper.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed Bugs Behind Wallpaper" border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3_Ae93u2OFk/U3JeCL8L8cI/AAAAAAAACEY/qx6sqwJCeVY/s1600/Bed+bugs+behind+wall+paper.jpg" height="240" title="Behind Wallpaper" width="320" /></a></div>
Another good picture here on this post, Bed Bugs Pictures UK. Behind loose, torn and degraded wallpaper. I would say that 7 out of every 10 bed bug treatments in London I have done going back to 2006 have had some sort of bed bug activity on wallpaper or behind it. I have seen them at the very top of them wall/ceiling join and behind even the smallest gap in the wallpaper. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OWE1CwmSgGo/U3JeDgZTG_I/AAAAAAAACEg/0HcnV8RnHJM/s1600/bed+bugs+16.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed Bug On A Bed" border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OWE1CwmSgGo/U3JeDgZTG_I/AAAAAAAACEg/0HcnV8RnHJM/s1600/bed+bugs+16.jpg" height="240" title="On The Run" width="320" /></a></div>
Not the greatest of photos but this is included as when carrying out bed bug inspections and separating and standing up beds you will often see bed bugs start to move where you have disturbed them. Remember when inspecting for bed bugs, do not move items around the home, you will just risk infesting other areas.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uE8nesrrSA8/U3JeF6rWKSI/AAAAAAAACEk/7h0ZgKxYy-o/s1600/IMG01857-20111108-1038.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed bugs behind loose wallpaper" border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uE8nesrrSA8/U3JeF6rWKSI/AAAAAAAACEk/7h0ZgKxYy-o/s1600/IMG01857-20111108-1038.jpg" height="240" title="Top Of The Wall" width="320" /></a></div>
As I said above, at the top of the wall behind more wallpaper. Bed bugs will travel a surprising distance between their blood meal, you, and their nesting area.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lU8125WAX7k/U3JeLrTG-dI/AAAAAAAACEw/Yc0sNtsk0HU/s1600/bed+bug2+10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed bugs under sofa" border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lU8125WAX7k/U3JeLrTG-dI/AAAAAAAACEw/Yc0sNtsk0HU/s1600/bed+bug2+10.jpg" height="240" title="Under The Sofa" width="320" /></a></div>
This picture show bed bugs on the underside of a sofa.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DzriATStNKE/U3JeMzL5vrI/AAAAAAAACE4/s0JeHefHHFM/s1600/1536497_651107248265113_1216367585_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed Bug Eggs" border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DzriATStNKE/U3JeMzL5vrI/AAAAAAAACE4/s0JeHefHHFM/s1600/1536497_651107248265113_1216367585_n.jpg" height="240" title="Bed Bug Eggs" width="320" /></a></div>
Here you can see bed bug eggs. These eggs are small, 1 mm in size and can be very difficult to spot to the untrained eye. They can sometimes be laid in clumps or sometimes spread across a vast area and on anything in the bed bugs path, back of pictures, shelving, curtains, walls, anywhere.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Inside a wardrobe. This is a common place to find bed bugs if you have returned from holidaying, travelling or perhaps been unfortunate enough to bring in an infested wardrobe into your home. If evidence of bed bugs is found inside areas that house clothing, that clothing will need to be washed. A good <a href="http://www.essexpestcontrolandbirdcontrol.co.uk/" target="_blank">bed bug technician</a> will give you detailed advice upon the inspection of your property, such as how to prepare for a bed bug treatment, what not to do and so on.<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C0krJhsBPEw/U3Jd9oujDuI/AAAAAAAACD4/MVWz0AAAyL8/s1600/20130227_121851.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed Bug Walking" border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C0krJhsBPEw/U3Jd9oujDuI/AAAAAAAACD4/MVWz0AAAyL8/s1600/20130227_121851.jpg" height="240" title="His Last Journey " width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
Lastly, one of my favourite bed bug pictures I have taken. A solitary bed bug making his last journey. </div>
<div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I hope you have found these pictures of use or interesting. If you have a bed bug infestation, I imagine you are very anxious and concerned. Firstly, these things are often not as bad as you think they are, I know from my years of experience in eliminating this pest that often when people find they have bed bugs they worry it is a reflection of their home or hygiene, that is not the case at all, just more misinformation and lack of public education. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Secondly, if you have bed bugs, you are doing something right already by reading up and gaining knowledge of them. To many people do not take the time to understand bed bugs and rush out and buy items that promise to eradicate bed bugs, and all other pests for that matter, such as fogger's and aerosol's which only serve to make the problem worse. Whatever you do, please DO NOT buy items such as that, they simply will not work and will make the bed bug technicians job all that more difficult. </div>
<div>

<div>
If you have been unfortunate enough to find yourself with bed bugs in your home you more than likely want to know how to get rid of bed bugs. We at EPB Pest Control specialise in fast, safe and affordable bed bug control in London. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Although I would always advise that you seek the help of a professional <a href="http://www.essexpestcontrolandbirdcontrol.co.uk/" target="_blank">London bed bug control company </a> who can inspect your home, advise you on preparation and treat your home for bedbugs correctly, you may wish to try and control the problem yourself first and that is understandable. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Firstly, having bed bugs isn't a reflection on personal hygiene or how clean your home is, so drop that thought if you have it. People always tell me they feel dirty or embarrassed but you shouldn't.</div><div><br /></div><div>Understanding bed bugs is part of the key to successfully eliminating them. If this is <br />
<a name='more'></a>your first visit to our bedbugs blog, I would suggest reading some of the other posts too that give further information on bed bug treatments and so on.</div>
<div><br /></div><div>Eggs are a big issue with bed bugs. If eggs are present this often shows long term activity </div><div><br /></div><div>However, when dealing with bed bug infestations eggs are one the the key points to consider. Small, 1mm in size, white and sticky, they will often be spread far and wide, therefore increasing the risk of the infestation lasting for long periods unless all of the eggs are found and removed.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #cc0000; text-align: left;">Bed Bugs and Eggs</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #cc0000; text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
When considering how to get rid of bed bugs, eggs should be searched for in areas such as:<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
The back of pictures hanging above the bed, behind posters on the walls, mirrors in the vicinity of the bed, top/bunching of curtains that overhang or are close to the bed, bed frame, wooden slats beneath the mattress top of walls/ceiling, under window frame, radiator brackets, rear of bedside furniture and any other furniture close to the bed. </div><div><br /></div><div>Also check wardrobes, chest of draws particularly on the bed edges of them, items stored under or in the bed draws are very high risk for bed bug activity too and often found there.<br />
<br />
<h4>
<span style="color: #cc0000;">How to get rid of bed bugs</span> </h4>
</div>
<div>
If you are going to attempt to get rid of bed bugs yourself then you should be aware that by doing so you run the risk of actually spreading the bed bugs and making the bed bug infestation worse. This is very common as they hide inside items which can then be moved to other areas </div><div><br /></div><div>This is easily done by moving items infested with bed bugs and bedbug eggs around the house, using the wrong bed bug treatments, such as bed bug smoke bombs or the wrong insecticide sprays. I would never advise using a smoke bombs purchased from the internet, these are ineffective and can actually spread the problem to other areas.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you are going to do it, you are more likely to be successful by carrying out a few very deep and precise cleans of the rooms and all furniture and items in the room. Checking and cleaning every part of every piece of furniture, cleaning every gap, crack and crevice, checking every area for signs of bed bugs. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
All clothing, bedding, curtains and any washable item washed at 60c. Hoovering floors, in particular along the edges.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Sealing gaps, cracks, crevices in walls and ceilings and skirting boards with sealant or fillers. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Placing items that you feel you need to keep but cant wash in sealed, vacuum bags, like books or items with sentimental value that you cannot dispose of neither clean. Bed bugs will die from lack of a blood feed, an adult can survive a long period and young will need blood feeds to develop through the stages of growth so will die sooner. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Bed frames will need to be stripped and every gap, screw hole, join checked and cleaned thoroughly.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am sure there are plenty of other areas that will need to be checked, cleaned and so on but if you choose this route I think that it could possibly become very stressful very quickly.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h4>
<span style="color: #cc0000;">D.I.Y or professional Bed Bug treatment?</span></h4>
<div>
If I am asked how to get rid of bed bugs, my answer is always the same, seek expert help. I have however met people that have told me they have carried out D.I.Y treatments and been successful. I think a lot of it will come down to the level of bed bug infestation, how much time and effort you are prepared to put into doing it yourself. I have also carried out plenty of <a href="http://www.essexpestcontrolandbirdcontrol.co.uk/bed-bug-pest-control-london" target="_blank">bed bug treatments in London </a>for people that have tried, wasted money and failed at doing so and then still had to pay for professional help.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When I carry out bed bug treatments they will consist of two visits which, after this, a property will be bed bug free. Compare that with days of trying to clean every part of your home and remove them yourself and still maybe having them!</div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
In this, EPB Pest Controls newest bedbugs post we are really just going to go over a few things that should be of use to if you have bedbugs or wish to just learn about them and to give you some information, facts or guidance, bed bugs treatment advice <span style="color: red;">EPB</span> <span style="color: #0b5394;">Pest Control.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #0b5394;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
To quote Sun Tzu "To know your enemy, you must become your enemy" Okay, I don't expect you all to try and morph into a bedbug, but what I mean is by understanding bed bugs as much as you can will help you not only locate and eradicate the bedbugs from your home but go a long way to preventing you ever getting them again.</div>
<div>
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div>
The first thing I always tell people when carrying out bed bugs eradication in London is, forget anything you have been told about what bed bugs do not do, or where bedbugs wont go or wont be found in your home. We at <span style="color: red;">EPB</span> <span style="color: #0b5394;">Pest Control</span> have found bed bugs just about everywhere they can be found in properties such as homes, hostels and hotels as well as found them in workplaces, vehicles and boats. Until you have had an expert in your property do not move things about the home from one room to another, Carrying out bed bug treatments in London daily throws up some interesting discoveries!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Bed bug eggs can also be found in the strangest of places, and to the untrained eye could be impossible to find! Firstly, know what you are looking for, people are often in a panic and mistake everything and anything for eggs. Below is a good photograph of some bed bug eggs I have taken,</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A female bed bug can lay up to 300 eggs in her lifetime in the correct conditions. When laying these eggs they will not always be in one spot nicely laid out together. I have seen them along the top of a ceiling, in curtains, on the rear of pictures on the wall is always a common place to find bed bug eggs and around the bed, in books, dvds, on boxes under the bed, in furniture with clothes and dozens of more places. There really is no limit to where bed bugs can and will lay their eggs. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As discussed in previous posts on the bed bugs London blog, the presence of eggs does not mean you have to replace all your furniture, sadly some people are misinformed by less than knowledgeable bed bug technicians who would rather the furniture be throw to make the treatment easier for them. Throwing away furniture and replacing it in an infested property will only lead to the new items being infested with bed bugs. Yes bed bugs will be found inside wardrobes, bedside units, chest of draws and areas that clothing is stored. Yes they will hitch a ride inside your jacket or on your favorite dress and yes they will make a comfy home on that coat hook on the back of your door!</div>

Clothing should be washed at 60c to kill bed bugs. If you find bed bugs inside furniture, wash all clothing. Do not take the risk with anything, do it right first time and save doing it a second time. Obviously, do not put clothing back into the furniture until the furniture has been treated professionally. I provide the most up to date bed bug control London treatments so can help if you would like a treatment for your home.</div>

Bed bugs treatment and advice <span style="color: red;">EPB</span> <span style="color: #0b5394;">Pest Control </span>- Do's and Don'ts:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Do seek expert pest control and bed bug removal advice. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Do ask questions, read reviews and fully understand the process of a bed bug treatment.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Do Not use smoke bombs. These are probably one of the worst things you could do.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Do Not move items from an infested room to other areas of your home before a professional bed bug technician has advised you or assisted you in its inspection. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Do Not throw infested furniture in the street or garden. This will just pose a risk to others. Seek advice on the correct method of disposal if you insist on replacing furniture. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Do check every item in the infested area regardless of if you think it will not be infested. Shelves, curtains, doors, edge of flooring, plug sockets, behind radiators, every possible area.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Do Not feel this is a reflection of hygiene or how clean your home is or isn't. This is not the case.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Do ask for help, find an informative and helpful local pest control company who specialize in bed bug removal, such as <a href="http://www.epbcontrol.co.uk/" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">EPB</span> <span style="color: #0b5394;">Pest Control</span></a>. </div>

<h3>
Bed Bug Removal London - EPB Control</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: red;">EPB</span> <span style="color: blue;">Pest Control </span>are requested to carry out dozens of bed bug removal treatments in London per week, even more so over the warmer months when it is pretty much all day everyday. As the reviews will show on our <a href="http://www.epbcontrol.co.uk/" target="_blank">website</a> we are not only effective at this, but friendly, affordable and informative. We take our reputation very seriously and because of this our level of service is second to none.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Our 24 hour bed bug removal London services will always start with an inspection. I like to see the level of infestation, the areas infested, if a previous pest controller has been in and made a mess of things, maybe used an incorrect product and made the problem worse, or perhaps you were mislead by an internet seller and tried a D.I.Y treatment like a bed bug smoke bomb, the wrongly marketed miracle cure (if you believe everything you read). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My point is, first, I need to ensure that the property is inspected to not only enable effective and safe treatment but to ensure the correct advice is given to you to ensure you understand the preparation needs. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is a vital component of an effective bed bug removal treatment in London. Many landlords request we carry out property inspections after they have a change of tenants to ensure their property is free of pests such as bedbugs, Fleas and so on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<h4>
Preparation for bedbug treatment</h4>
<div>
Prepare for a bed bug removal treatment will include things like, removing bedding, bagging it to be washed at 60c, possibly removing clothing from wardrobes, chest of draws, moving furniture away from the walls, NOT moving items between rooms, ensuring the room to be treated is tidy, removal of pets/ aquatic species, unplugging of electrical appliances, possible removal of curtains as it is common for bed bugs to nest in the top gathering of curtains that overhang a bed and there are other requirements.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h4>
Furniture</h4>
<div>
It is not necessary to remove and replace furniture in your home but there are exceptions like when the condition of a particular item of furniture is extremely poor and in need or replacement or where you just cannot bear to keep it. Whatever the reason, IF you are determined to remove furniture you have an obligation to dispose of it correctly. This would include it being sealed/wrapped and labelled. Not left on the street for someone to come along and take it and then the bed bugs infest someone else's home.</div>

<h4>
Bed Bug Removal London - Treatment</h4>
<div>
The process of the bed bug treatment in London shall not be given away in to much detail here but you can contact me for more information on that via my Google + page or here <a href="http://www.epbcontrol.co.uk/" target="_blank">EPB Control</a> but what I will say is that you will not be able to re enter the rooms for 3 hours after treatment and you will also be given details concerning what to do when you do return in the form of a report and advice sheet. I don't like to discuss the use of insecticides to freely in a public environment such as this as I can say, and I sure many other bed bug technicians will agree, I have seen some awful attempts at bed bug eradication by amateurs and I do not want to encourage that. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="color: red;">EPB</span> <span style="color: blue;">Control</span> will treat all areas of an infested property such as beds, bed frames, furniture, cracks and crevices, sofas and other key areas. Treatment times depend on the property size. Insecticides used will be discussed prior to the treatment giving information on them. The correct insecticides is another key element of a bed bug removal treatment. Any experienced London bed bug technician will agree, some can actually drive away bed bugs from the area spreading the problem. This make eradication more difficult.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h4>
Alternative Treatments</h4>
<div>
I would also like to point out there are other types of bed bug removal treatments available. Obviously cost will vary between them all. Alternatives such as heat treatments, non toxic and natural methods are also available. One thing I will say is that you should always do your homework on who you are going to employ for any treatment, ask questions, seek out reviews and ensure you fully understand what they plan to do in your home, are there any side effects from the treatment process, are there guarantees, what sort of experience does a company have, do they specialise in bed bugs. I'm sure you get my point. </div>

<span style="color: #cc0000;">Bed Bug Inspections - How To</span></h1>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You think you have bed bugs. You have noticed blood on your sheets, you are itchy, something has bitten you. It is bed bugs. In this latest post from Bed Bugs London we will discuss ways of finding bedbugs.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Why would you have bed bugs you think to yourself? Maybe you have recently returned from holiday or travelling. Maybe you have just moved into a new apartment, stayed with friends or in a hotel. There are a number of reasons you may have bed bugs, they could also have entered your home from something you have purchased recently as we covered in the last post - <a href="http://bed-bugs-london.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/bed-bugs-worrying-trend.html" target="_blank">bed bugs, a worrying trend</a>, or even in extreme cases they can enter one property from an adjoining property.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, how do you find bedbugs? Not all bed bug cases are extreme where they are climbing the walls and I have seen first hand how trying to find them, along with sleep deprivation and stress can drive a person insane! Having an infestation of bed bugs is no fun and I am sympathetic to anyone that is suffering because of them as I have seen just how that lack of sleep and worry can impact people.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<span style="color: #cc0000;">The Signs.</span></h3>
<div>
The first thing to look for is bed bug excrement and blood on the sheets. I am sure you are aware of what blood looks like so that is about as far as we can go with that part but you are looking for blood spots and smudges on your sheets or pillow cases. Excrement may be difficult to find at first, but once you find one you will start to notice more. In appearance it is a black dot, singular, or if you find the nesting area, large clumps of black dots. It is even possible to follow the bed bugs route via following excrement marks as it will be spread in the direction of travel. Check the rear of bed side units, the top of curtains if they overhang the bed, the edge of the wooden slats under your mattress.</div>

<h3>
<span style="color: #cc0000;">Where to Look? Bed Bug Inspections</span></h3>
<div>
Bed bugs really can get everywhere and I have seen them infest everything over the years. However they do like to stay in the vicinity of their food source if possible. They will however get into all sorts of places you may not think of. Below is a list of places to look or alternatively this is where a professional bed bug technician would be looking,</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Bed frame, under mattress, in joins, under wooden slats, in bolt holes, behind headboard, in cracks. </li>

<div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you have inspected your property and are still not sure then it is advisable to seek <a href="http://www.bed-bug-treatment.co.uk/" target="_blank">professional bed bug services</a> to assist in finding the bed bugs as a minor infestation can quickly turn into a major infestation if left, A bed bug control treatment should always be carried out by experienced and knowledgeable bed bug technicians, such as myself.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you are considering a D.I.Y bed bug treatment consider that this could potentially make the infestation worse and it could also hamper any future professional treatment you seek. Personally if someone tells me they have been using materials they purchased on-line such as smoke treatments or sprays I know the problem has spread.</div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It is also advisable to seek expert bed bug advice advice with regards to how to deal with furniture. Furniture does now always have to be disposed of but if you are insistent on removing bed bug infested furniture it should be done correctly so as to not infest other places. Again this is advice you can get from any good <a href="http://www.epbcontrol.co.uk/" target="_blank">bed bug company</a>.<br />

<span style="color: #cc0000;">Bed Bugs - A Worrying Trend</span></h1>
<div>
Welcome to Bed Bugs London blog and this post, A worrying trend.<br />
<br />
Speak to any London pest control or London bed bug technician and they will have a few stories to tell. Well, I have noticed a worrying trend over the course of the last year that seemed to get worse towards Christmas time. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Bed Bugs - A Worrying Trend, Internet auction sites! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Yes, internet auction sites. I shall not name them and neither am I suggesting that it is in their power to ensure that items bought or sold are not infested with bed bugs but I have noticed an increasing trend of people purchasing items from these sites and getting more than they paid for!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Commonly this is from items that need to be collected such as Sofas, Arm Chairs, Beds and other furnishings. I even came across a case where by a lady was buying old pillow cases to then recycle into new, hand made cases. What she was doing with them was great, the only problem was she got a pretty bad infestation of bed bugs in her home from a batch that was sent to her.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fHGkGIiNjIU/UsvzqwB3jtI/AAAAAAAABso/YH3fqjFmuLg/s1600/bed+bugs+14.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="Bed Bugs - A worrying trend. Infestations from internet auctions." border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fHGkGIiNjIU/UsvzqwB3jtI/AAAAAAAABso/YH3fqjFmuLg/s1600/bed+bugs+14.jpg" title="Bed bug eggs under the arm of a sofa." width="200" /></a></div>
<div>
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CmHRLw5vzxo/Usvy6id8SpI/AAAAAAAABsg/nevdCCZYKtI/s1600/Bed+bug+eggs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed Bugs - A Worrying Trend" border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CmHRLw5vzxo/Usvy6id8SpI/AAAAAAAABsg/nevdCCZYKtI/s1600/Bed+bug+eggs.jpg" title="Bed Bug Eggs (White) and Excrement (Black) on a Bed Frame." width="200" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, if you yourself buy items from any of these sites, it is a good idea to know the signs of bedbugs, <a href="http://bed-bugs-london.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/bed-bug-images.html" target="_blank">identify bed bugs</a>, what <a href="http://bed-bugs-london.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/bed-bug-eggs.html#more" target="_blank">eggs</a> look like, excrement, and to thoroughly inspect any item before you leave the property with it. If they offer to deliver, inspect it before it enters your property. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Remember, 1 female bed bug can lay up to 300 eggs in her life time, small and white, oval in size, they can be very difficult to find to the untrained eye. Check around folds, cracks and joins. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you are unfortunate enough to have a bed bug infestation due to something you have purchased do not presume that just because you then remove that item the issue is resolved. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
1. Bed bugs could have fell from the item whilst it was being moved through your home.</div>
<div>
2. They could have moved onto other furniture, walls, floors and so on. </div>
<div>
3. They could have laid eggs no matter how short a time they were in your home.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It is always best to contact a <a href="http://www.epbcontrol.co.uk/" target="_blank">professional</a>, local bed bug technician and request an inspection. It is better to deal with these infestations early rather than waste time and money on D.I.Y treatments. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You should also bear in mind that if all of the above applies to you and you have used your personal vehicle to collect any infested items, there is a risk that bed bugs may also now be in your vehicle. I would suggest a very thorough clean and hoover.<br />
<br />
UPDATE MAY 2015<br />
<br />
This has still been an issue this year. I think already we have done as many bed bug treatments this year as we did last year where people have brought from on line sites second hand items and have got bed bugs and needed a bed bug treatment to remove them.<br />

<span style="color: #073763;">Pre Treatment Bed Bug Advice</span></h1>
<div>
Hi.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here we are going to go over a few things that are useful to know before you have a bed bug extermination treatment. <span style="color: blue;"><a href="http://www.epbcontrol.co.uk/" target="_blank">EPB </a></span><span style="color: red;"><a href="http://www.epbcontrol.co.uk/" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;">Control</span></a> </span>would always make a client/tenant aware of these things beforehand by phone or during an inspection but this will still be useful I am sure to some people.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #cc0000;">Room Preparation</span>:<br />
<br />
Preparing your room correctly will not only make the pest technicians life easier but also increase the effectiveness of the treatment. However, do not rush into moving items from the room to another room of the property until you are absolutely certain that those items are free of eggs.<br />
<br />
If you move items with eggs on them to other rooms that may not be infected they soon will be and you will require further treatments. If you are unsure on what eggs look like, see below. If you are still concerned then air on the side of caution and do not move it until the pest controller has inspected it for you.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #cc0000;">Eggs</span>:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-z5pPlqRT8aI/UlmNvGKVv1I/AAAAAAAABo8/gS4qQFg_Hkw/s1600/Bed+Bugs....jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed bug extermination." border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-z5pPlqRT8aI/UlmNvGKVv1I/AAAAAAAABo8/gS4qQFg_Hkw/s200/Bed+Bugs....jpg" title="Bed bug eggs on frame" width="200" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hRgzIJeZ8Z4/UlmNywSgYNI/AAAAAAAABpE/z65A7SVz7FE/s1600/bed+bugs+12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="Pre Treatment Advice for bed bug extermination." border="0" height="150" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hRgzIJeZ8Z4/UlmNywSgYNI/AAAAAAAABpE/z65A7SVz7FE/s200/bed+bugs+12.jpg" title="Small white eggs on fold of furniture" width="200" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--0a2p-oR0FE/UlmNlLv2GfI/AAAAAAAABos/ayO1XLSIKaQ/s1600/bed+bug+eggs+on+bed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed bug pre treatment advice." border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--0a2p-oR0FE/UlmNlLv2GfI/AAAAAAAABos/ayO1XLSIKaQ/s200/bed+bug+eggs+on+bed.jpg" title="Bed bug eggs" width="150" /></a></div>
<br />
Note that eggs will not always be laid in clumps such as the first and second picture and on a white surface can be very difficult to locate to the untrained eye. Eggs could be laid anywhere, curtains, bed frame, back of pictures, back of bedside unit, wardrobes, walls, items under the bed.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #cc0000;">Furniture:</span><br />
<span style="color: #cc0000;"><br /></span>
When preparing for a bed bug treatment I would always insist that the wardrobe, chest of draws and bedside units be empty and all clothing placed into sealed bags to be washed at 60c. It is not uncommon to find heavily infested furniture in a property.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Tf2MRoDhag4/UlmQjM5wqOI/AAAAAAAABpo/oBSzrT5ZcqE/s1600/bed+bugs+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="Pre Treatment Bed Bug Help" border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Tf2MRoDhag4/UlmQjM5wqOI/AAAAAAAABpo/oBSzrT5ZcqE/s200/bed+bugs+5.jpg" title="Wardrobe infested with bed bugs" width="149" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Dvbrxr2YkjE/UlmQdrZKK0I/AAAAAAAABpg/rSdoNUNIFx4/s1600/bed+bugs+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed Bugs London advice" border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Dvbrxr2YkjE/UlmQdrZKK0I/AAAAAAAABpg/rSdoNUNIFx4/s200/bed+bugs+2.jpg" title="Bedside Unit." width="149" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eMWZLGYVOxQ/UlmQZxTFgYI/AAAAAAAABpY/KA9ERiO9Cj4/s1600/bed+bugs+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="London Bed Bug Company" border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eMWZLGYVOxQ/UlmQZxTFgYI/AAAAAAAABpY/KA9ERiO9Cj4/s200/bed+bugs+9.jpg" title="Inside Wardrobe" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Always pull furniture 6 inches from the wall before the technician arrives as any good knowledgeable bed bug technician will inspect and treat the rear of the furniture.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: #cc0000;">What Else?</span><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Curtains should be checked by the <a href="http://www.essexpestcontrolandbirdcontrol.co.uk/" target="_blank">pest control company</a> you use, particularly if they over hang the bed. It is very common to find bed bugs in the top folds of the curtains. Remove and wash at high temperature. </li>
<li>Hoover the floors before the treatment. Empty hoover bag/cannister to a bin out of the property.</li>
<li>Remove all bedding. Ensure under the bed is clear of items. </li>
<li>Ensure there are no children's toys in areas that are being treated with insecticide.</li>
<li>Remove any aquatic pets from the room.</li>
</ul>
Bed bugs can and will infest everywhere. If you have a bed bug infestation deal with it by contacting a professional straight away. Do not leave an infestation to develop and for eggs to become present. I would also advise against wasting money on cures from the internet, most of all smoke bombs which only make an infestation worse.<br />
<br />
Any questions please email me, I will be happy to reply and assist you.<br />
<br />
Regards<br />

<span style="color: #cc0000;">Dealing with bed bug infected items.</span></h2>
<div>
Should you dispose of infected items?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You will not need to dispose of items unless extremely infested to the point of no longer being of use, but the following may apply and then you may consider disposal.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Heavily infested with eggs/excrement/blood to the point of being unusable and unwanted. </li>
<li>Items that are in poor condition with holes and tears, such as heavily infested mattresses with a high amount of eggs and evidence of bugs inside the mattress. </li>
</ul>
<div>
Although it is not required to remove and dispose of beds and mattresses once an infestation occurs, as these can be treated by an experienced pest controller, as mentioned above, there are circumstances when you may wish to remove the mattress. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If the mattress is in extremely poor condition with holes and tears and you cannot face using it again, this is a decision you will have to make, but obviously it has cost implications on replacing it and disposing of it correctly. </div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-a_AAYQiZQnU/UZ9p-TstGXI/AAAAAAAABEs/fS_5mJAD_v4/s1600/Mattress.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Bed bugs London " border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-a_AAYQiZQnU/UZ9p-TstGXI/AAAAAAAABEs/fS_5mJAD_v4/s200/Mattress.jpg" title="Heavily infested mattresses will contain blood & excrement. " width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Items that are stored under an infected bed or in close proximity such as bed side units or even in wardrobes/chest of draws (particularly if returning from holiday/travelling with bugs in luggage and transferring to furniture via clothing) are likely to show signs of being infected, this would usually be the presence of eggs or live bugs. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Clothing and other fabric items, curtains, bedding and so on will require being washed at a temperature of 60c or above or in a tumble dryer on high heat for over an hour. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Depending on the type of treatment you are to have will depend on how to deal with items such as books or canvas paintings that are commonly found on bedroom walls. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you have found evidence of bed bug activity on these (pictures on the wall above a bed is a common location for bed bugs, check the rear) then I would first place them into something like clingfilm or into a sealed air tight bag, such as zip lock to contain the infected area if you are going to move them as you do not want to spread the bed bugs to another area. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
How to deal with these items depends on the type of treatment you are having. Chemical treatments would not be suitable to treat these items as they would ruin them and also make cleaning them after difficult. However, if you are to have a heat treatment, if your location permits, those items would be able to be treated as the property will be sealed and then the temperature raised to a level that will kill the bugs. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #e06666;">Some DO NOTS.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>Do not move items to other areas of your property, another property or your vehicle until you are sure they are not infected with bed bugs.</li>
<li>Do not place infected items into public areas such as shared doorways, communal areas of flats as this could spread the infestation. </li>
<li>Do not give infected items away or donate them.</li>
<li>Do not think that by simply re decorating or moving property you will rid yourself of bed bugs.</li>
<li>Do not use items such as microwaves/ovens to try and heat items. This is a fire risk.</li>
<li>Do not believe all the horror stories you read regarding bed bugs. Find yourself a good pest controller by asking questions, reading <a href="https://plus.google.com/112181778736409436438/about?hl=en" target="_blank">reviews</a> and researching. A good pest controller will explain everything to you before and during the treatments, if he has not, you are not using a good pest controller. </li>
<li>Do not entertain and fogging or smoke bomb treatments.</li>
</ul>
<div>
<span style="color: lime;">Some DO'S. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: lime;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Do follow the advice of your pest controller and prepare you property for treatment before he arrives. Some pest controllers (I myself do) will be happy to check personal items for you once they arrive if you are concerned of the presence of eggs/bugs before you move them. </li>
<li>Do ask questions. Any good pest controller has spent many years carrying out these treatments and learning all they know, they will be only to happy to discuss the process, treatments and bed bugs with you. If they are avoiding doing so, do you feel comfortable using them?</li>
<li>Do take care if you are disposing of anything, do so correctly, wrap it, seal it, mark it as being infected. The side of the street is not a suitable way to dispose of items. </li>
<li>Do take care when visiting friends and family. Bed bugs are excellent at hitching a ride!</li>
</ul>
